The last couple of weeks have totally been about rest. I finally feel a little bit of energy coming back into my life two weeks after the dreaded radiation. I had my oncologist appointment yesterday to have this new infusion called Avastin (google it). There are no supposed big side effects but I was hit with a huge headache that put me in the bed most of the day. My friend, Georgeanna, came and stayed with me to make sure my head didn't explode or something like that. Before we did the infusion, the blood work came back with good results. My liver counts have decreased (good thing) and my other blood work looked good. He thinks the oral chemo (xeloda) is working to settle down my "hot spots" on my bones and liver. We will know for sure on May 21st, day of my first CT Scan. Even though I have taken three xeloda treatements, he considers that I have now completed 1 therapy session - this includes all three treatements (Avastin, Xeloda, and Zomenta - for bones). You will need to google all three to learn. Too complicated for me to explain. Doc hopes to know more about my body's response sometime mid summer.
I leave this Saturday for a cruise with my family to Bermuda. So they are giving me time off of chemo so I can feel good and relax. I have never been on a cruise but from what I understand, you eat, sleep, eat, sleep, drink and eat again. So its the perfect vacation for someone who has been through hell like me. We are coming back on the 20th, scan is the 21st, and I plan on going back to work on the 24th to settle down to some type of routine. You have to try and get back to some type of normalacy even though you are still battling cancer. You will go insane if you don't. My work has been really good and I know they will be there for me through doctor appointments and an occasional bad day.
Please remember me and my family in your prayers especially May 21st. We are truly grateful for each and everyone of you.
Take care, Jennifer

I hope you got my card and that you'll let me buy you lunch or dinner when you get back from your cruise. Have fun floating to Bermuda; you deserve it!
