Driving in Raleigh

Thats right. I am now able to drive myself around town. Of course, I was the person driving 25 mph during rush hour on the beltline to my radiation appointment today. But it feels good to be able to drive again. I can also take off the devil brace for the most part. He said to try and keep wearing it while I sleep but I have been ignoring that advice. Everything looks great from the surgery. The pain I still feel are my ligaments and muscles. But I hope to start physical therapy this week or next and they should hopefully massage those pains away.

Update - I am going to radiation everyday. I am already feeling much better. Pain in my bones has been a lot less, so I am a big fan of radiation. If the machines are working right, I am in and out in about 20 minutes. If they aren't working, it takes about an hour or more. But everyone waiting for radiation is pretty upbeat. Its the same ones everyday so I have met some wonderful people of all ages. My friend Michele took me the other day and mentioned how nice everyone was in the waiting room. I told her that we all have cancer and all of life's little problems are gone while we are fighting our disease. So for the most part, we are pretty happy and relaxed. Although we all have our days when we want to beat the crap out of that happy person sitting in the corner :-).

Chemo - I started my second cycle today. No problems so far. I have been lucky to make it through my first time with chemo four years ago with no real issues and so far its the same this time. The hair doesn't fall out with this chemo so thats one plus. I just have headaches and bouts of fatigue - which is totally normal. Its hard to explain the fatigue to people who have never been through it but you just get this glazed feeling all over your body. Not huge pain but just a blah feeling from your head to your toes. Best thing to do is to take a bath, pop some pills, and go to bed.

I'm at home with Harvey and my neighbors here at Georgetown (they are the greatest). Just hoping to get through the next couple of weeks so i can get back to work and my life. So far so good.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Love - Jennifer

  1. Glad to hear that you can get on the open road again and that the "devil brace is off".

Your neighbor at 3801 is just across the street if you need ANYTHING.
